i have a few questions... is there a booklet for long term dep or is it just the longitudinal studies booklet? because theres a question in the past papers that says outline whats meant by long term dep and its only 2 marks and i dont get how u would explain it? is it like death and divorce? is that what you'd say? :S
also is rutter et al (1998) an example of a study into the effects of long term dep?
also theres a past paper question that asks you to evaluate the strange situation as a procedure to measure attatchment type? which i dont get? is it like stuff like unethical like distress? subjective maybeee? HELPPP MEEEE please :)
im finished ha if you could help me i would be vvvvv grateful! thankssss xxx
alsoo on monday i know there is psyc all day butt i have an exam in the afternoon so i dont wanna come in the morning because i have loads i have to memorise for english and i dont really want psychology in my head hah but is there any after school sessions on monday? xx
Erm, in the strange situation thing, why does the stranger try to interact with the child twice?? In the booklet it says like, "mother leaves the child alone with the stranger and the stranger interacts with the child" and then it says "the child is left on its own, the stranger returns and tries to engage with the child"
also ha sorry theres the dunn and munn study in (1985) that has the same findings as the munn study in (1998) is that the sae study or a replica of it? merci beaucoup! xx
Jess: yes all that is long term deprivation - so define deprivation (breaking of a bond etc) and then say that could be caused by death, divorce or going into institutional care. evaluating strange sit procedure: yep, ethics, yep subjective (in analysing the children's behaviour) also it is not reliable (as you get different reults in different cultures e.g. Takahashi) and validity issues (are you really testing attachment of is it about the child's temperament?) I can stick around to do stuff Monday, yep. Ryan - don't worry about why! They just do! As long as you remember that we are interested in how the child reacts when alone, and when with the stranger, and when the mother returns. Most evals for SS will be negative - you could say though that consistent results have been found WITHIN AMERICA so within that one culture it is reliable. Jess - they are very similar, not the same study, probably are adaptations.
